| Lucina Roark
was born in Canton, China, grew up in Hong Kong and moved to the United
States in pursuit of a higher education. She received her BFA in Texas and
MFA in Massachusetts. She also received a certificate in website design &
development and has experience in structure and maintenance of websites for
both commercial and private businesses. Even though primarily a printmaker
(working in etching, lithography and relief printing) she practices in
various other media including charcoal and pastel, color pencil, watercolor,
oil and oil pastel. Lucina has teaching experience in all printmaking
techniques, drawing and design as well as conducting workshops in colored
pencil drawing, monotype, and Japanese block printing. Lucina has exhibited her work in many one-person and group shows, participated in numerous juried museum/gallery exhibitions nationwide and received many awards. Her work is in both public and private collections. She has also served as juror for various art competitions. She served as Art Council member, treasurer and webmaster for the Wilmington Art Council in Massachusetts for many years. She moved to Central Florida in 2009 and has been teaching drawing classes since her arrival. Lucina believes a good foundation in drawing will enhance all works of art. The understanding of all the basic elements of drawing is the foundational training for becoming a good artist. Even though Lucina has worked mostly in still life, Florida’s captivating landscape has inspired a newfound interest in capturing the beauty of its lush and colorful open air. She is planning on exploring it in her new works in the near future.
