An award-winning oil pastel artist, Mr. Wood enjoys painting a variety of subjects from his trips along the East Coast of the United States and the British Isles.  Since his studies under master oil pastelist John Elliot in 2002, “Chas” has received a number of honors for his works.  A member of the Wethersfield (CT) Art League, his paintings have won BEST IN SHOW (2003, 2006) and FIRST PLACE (2005) awards as a participant of the league’s juried shows.  He was honored with a SECOND PLACE and MEMBER’S CHOICE awards in the Oil Pastel Society’s Beginnings 2005 Members Only Show.  The themes of his painting include Florida Wildlife, Landscapes of Ireland, America’s Lighthouses, and Carousel Animals.  He has also been commissioned to do architectural paintings and portraits.  His favorite works, however, are his wildlife paintings where he keeps his camera ready for future subjects as he travels the East Coast from Maine and Florida.  He has commenced oil pastel workshops at his Wareham (MA) Studio helping new and experienced artists create with the wonderful oil pastel medium.

In 2008, Mr. Wood won "honorable mention" awards in the Arts of Tolland (CT) and Pascoe Arts Council (FL) shows and the "Sakura Award of Excellence" in the OPS Online Show "Transitions".  Charles is scheduled to have a one-man show at the Arts of Tolland (CT) Gallery in June, 2009.

Mr. Wood is a featured artist at the “Middleborough Art Gallery”, Middleborough, Massachusetts. He has studios in Wethersfield, CT, Wareham, MA,
