About the Artist
I am a working artist with a degree in Art Education currently focusing my energies on my art from my
studio at home. Married with three grown children and 4 grandchildren, I look forward to expanding my art
and design work as my youngest prepares to leave for college the fall of 2012.
Experience
ART EDUCATOR, STUDIO ARTIST
Having taught in the public schools for many years ages k-12, I am well experienced in working with youth
of all ages.
FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE SOUTHEAST IOWA ARTISTS’ STUDIO TOUR
This is the third year for our self-guided art tour which includes four counties in Iowa. The tour is held the
third weekend in October and has approximately 30 artists involved. ( see iowastudiotour.org.)
MEMBER BURLINGTON ART GUILD AND FAIRFIELD ART ASSOCIATION
Both associations include exhibiting artists as well as classroom participation.
PAST MEMBER IOWA ART EDUCATORS
Though I no longer teach in the schools, last year I taught at a private school and continue to be active and
sensitive to the needs in the community.
VOLUNTEER PROJECTS
Camp chair for TTT women’s group, sending girls to camp, Advocate for Compassion International, and
central contact person for SEIAST.
Education
Iowa State University, BA, many graduate classes as well as workshops with renowned artists such as
Chicago artist George Shipperly, New Mexico artist David Swidt, and workshops though the University of
Minneapolis Art Department and University of Iowa.
Art Acknowledgements
Most recently awarded a first place award for a regional show of Iowa Artists for my piece “Night Scene” in
oil pastel. (2011) Will be showing my work this fall in Cedar Falls Iowa and have participated in local and
regional shows, twice for the juried “Small Works Show” in Iowa City.
