Jack Brumbaugh
Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania
in 1955, Jack spent most of his childhood overseas until 1968, when he moved to
Alexandria, Virginia. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond,
where he obtained a Baccalaureate Degree in Painting and Printmaking in 1976.
Starting in 1978, he spent
several years as an apprentice, and then assistant printmaker at Atlantic
Editions, Richmond, Virginia, where he learned lithography in the tradition of a
studio atelier. Then, in 1982, he moved to the Washington DC area, where he was
a “master lithographer”, collaborating with other artists to produce hand-pulled
lithographs.
In 1986, he moved to rural
Maryland, where he continued to pursue his own vision as an artist in
printmaking, drawing , and painting. He now lives in Fairhaven, Maryland, with
his wife and family, in a house and studio overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. The
local landscape is evident in his oil pastel drawings and painting.
