Lillian Pagni

My love affair with art started when I took my first art class at the Y.M.C.A, in Lake Geneva, Wi.  I started oil painting with a group of artist’s at our local church, in Richmond, Illinois.  I attended a soft pastel workshop at Dolman’s Lodge, Wi. with Susan Kuszinski and continued my journey of learning about painting and then became a member of Midwest Pastel Society.

Many of my paintings were of animals, & sport figures. My painting of Walter Payton is one that I’m most proud of!  I donated the painting to charity; The Chicago Bears wife’s held a fur fashion show at Evans Furs, on Michigan Ave. in Chicago.  It was a very special evening, especially meeting Walter Payton.  The paintings of, Michael Jordan, Mike Singletary, Frank Thomas, Tiger Woods were all donated to Children’s Charities.  It is my way of giving something back.

I can best describe the style of my recent work as impressionistic, my palette is that of Van Gogh’s paintings; bright colors and of course always purple!  My Italian heritage is where my heart is, in Tuscany, when I am painting a landscape of a Tuscan town.  My soul is in those  paintings!

My studio is a menagerie of wild animals watching my every move!  It has been said, that you can see your love through their eyes.

I am currently a member of The Fine Line Creative Art Center, St. Charles, IL

I have been taking oil pastel classes from George Shipperley for the last two years.  His workshops are inspiring. He teaches us to paint what we love and are passionate about.  We (the class members) all have become good friends, and we learn from one another!  When I am not painting, my time is also spent at Provena St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, volunteering since 1992.
