Marie T Harris
Marie Harris
graduated from St. Joseph’s University with a B.S. in Liberal Arts, and from
Acadia University with a M.Ed. in Education. For the past thirty years she has
been teaching art, music, literature and reading.
Her personal art instruction began in the 60’s
with courses at Bucks Country Community College and at the Abington and
Cheltenham art centers. She studied with Howard Watson and other fine artists.
In the 90’s she lived abroad three years in Berlin and Munich, Germany. There
she traveled extensively and studied watercolor methods at the Volkshochschule
in Munich. Living and traveling in Europe gave her the opportunity to
experience the culture of the people in Germany and learn about German
Expressionistic art exhibited in the museums in Berlin and Munich. Their
expressive use of color has influenced her art.
In the autumn of 2003, she painted in Tuscany with an art group from the
Wallingford Community Art Center.
She has studied at the Pennsylvania Fine Arts Academy, the
Main Line Art Center, the Wayne Art Center, the Wallingford Community Art
Center, Fleisher Art Memorial Center and the Norristown Art League.
She is a member of The Art League, the Norristown Art
League, the Art Guild and an associate member of the Philadelphia Watercolor
Society and the American Watercolor Society.
She is presently working in oils, oil pastels, acrylics,
watercolors and pastels. She paints landscapes, city scenes, flowers, still
life, portraits and abstracts.
She has exhibited at member and juried shows sponsored by art centers and art
leagues. Some of them were at American College, Penn Medical Center, Wayne Art
Center and Villanova University.
