Maureen McKee is an award winning artist of
juried and selective art shows in the Chicagoland area. She studied at the
American Academy of Art, Western Illinois University and at the Art Institute of
Chicago.
Texture and color are her main emphasis, characterized by transitions from light
to dark, bold to delicate, and positive to negative spaces. Her paintings often
have a graphic style which can be attributed to the years she has spent as an
art director and designer. The light and color patterns of nature often provide
inspiration.
She resides in Naperfille Illinois and is member of several Art Leagues
including the West Suburban Artists Guild, Naperville and DuPage Art Leagues.
Recent Awards include:
Honorable Mention - 2004 Oil Pastel Society Show “Beginings”
Best of Show - DuPage Art League Spring 05
Best of Show - West Suburban Artist Guild- Fall 04

Artist Statement:
“The rhythm of the water... the movement of the wind... every moment creates a
different response and mood... and a new challenge to be met.
I can best be described as an abstract naturalist. I look for patterns in the
fields, streams and sky, and strive to capture the everchanging light and
texture of the world we live in. My paintings constantly take me to new levels
of creativity and each painting brings a new challenge.
