WORKSHOPS & DEMOS

Patricia Isaac will be doing a demo for the Weymouth Art Association on February 18, 2006 from 2pm to 4pm at the Tufts Library, Broad St., Weymouth, MA.

S. H. Bill Burgin will be holding an Oil Pastel Landscape Workshop at the Running Deer Retreat near Danville, Arkansas April 21-23, 2006.

It is a lovely setting on a lake in the Ouachita Mountains.  Spring in Arkansas is spectacular!
Tuition for the workshop is $250 for 3 days, and includes continental breakfasts and sack lunches. Out of state participants can fly into Little Rock or Fort Smith, AR.

Deposit for the workshop is $75.   Rooms are extra - Running Deer offers Bed & Breakfast rooms and has 5 RV hook-ups available. Russellville, AR motels are 25 minutes away.

Burgin has painted in pastels for many years and  is a founding member of the Arkansas Pastel Society. He has won numerous awards with his pastels, most recently in a National Exhibition juried by Maggie Price at the Arkansas Arts Center.  He has studied with many nationally know pastelists including a Wolf Kahn workshop at the National Academy in New York this year.  He also painted this year with Author and Oil Pastelist John Elliot in his studio in Upper Nyack, NY.

Marilynn Brandenburger will be teaching an 8-week course "Introduction to Oil Pastel" at the Spruill Center for the Arts, Atlanta, GA, January 10 - March 7, 2006.  This is a class for intermediate and advanced students who have solid skills in drawing & painting. We will focus on basic as well as experimental techniques.  Students will work on a variety of supports, such as paper, panel and canvas; try out various surfaces, including gesso, clay and pastel grounds; and explore combining other media with oil pastel.
Subject matter will include still life and abstracts. Sessions will include lecture, demonstration, in-class exercises and weekly homework assignments.

TIME: Tuesdays
