When I began working in oil pastel in my studio several years ago, it was
only experimental, but I immediately knew that this was the medium that best
suited my personality and energy level. Oil pastel has become my favorite
traditional medium because I love creating layers of color and texture and I
love the spontaneous versatility of this lively material.
As a former medical illustrator, I have published hundreds of traditional
and digital illustrations for books, and dozens of conceptual images for
magazine covers and editorials. I returned to studio painting primarily
in oil pastels and using the computer as a fine arts tool creating fusion prints
of oil pastel and digital. I have won awards including: First
place in the 12th annual National Show of the Art Institute in Salisbury, MD
for a portrait in oil pastel and I have exhibited digital art in galleries
such as the Fulton Street Gallery in Troy, NY. I was recognized as a
finalist in the Macworld Digital Expo and my work was exhibited in galleries
across the country including the Silicon Valley Art Museum and the New York and
San Francisco MacWorld Expo2003. I am a faculty member at Philadelphia
University where I teach Drawing I and II.
