I’ve just came
back to art after a hiatus that lasted from the early 70s until now. Not that I
had that much experience. I took some sketching and oil painting classes, and
produced a few pieces that I enjoyed hanging on my walls. I went back to
college and got my degree in Latin American Studies and then a Masters of
Business Administration in International Management. Life took over and art
vanished.
I retired to a warmer climate, and in January a friend introduced me to the Brownsville Art League. I
signed up for 2 sketching classes, took a 5 day softie pastel workshop (where I
found myself sadly allergic), and then simultaneously another pastel class
(where I alone used oil pastels), followed by a watercolor class. I’ve also
been working with acrylics. It’s too soon to be sure, but it’s looking like my
best results are coming in oil pastels.
