About the Artist

Lew Thatcher majored in art
at the University of Alabama, graduated 1967. First job was a layout
artist at age 16 for Justin Wedell Associates
(advertising agency), Pensacola, FL. U.S. Naval Aviator 1968 - 1971. After
leaving the military designed advertising brochures for the Navy's
Recruiting Advertising Department for fifteen years before leaving to
establish his own boutique advertising agency, Davey and Thatcher
Associates, of Arlington, VA. Has shown work at the Art League of
Alexandria, VA, and the Studio Gallery of Kilmarnock,
VA. Member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air
Painters’ Association. Studied portrait, figure, and landscape painting
with nationally-known artist Danni Dawson, 1992-1998. Workshops with
Daniel E. Greene, Doug Dawson, Greg Biolchini,
Alan Flattmann, and others. First worked in
the oil pastel medium in college in 1964. Currently works in oil, pastel,
and oil pastel.
