Wynn Creasy

Wynn Creasy is an artist currently based in Alexandria, VA.  She has had a wide professional career as an actress, singer, teacher and artist. Wynn's love of Oil Pastel as her medium of choice lets her constantly explore the fine line between drawing and painting.  She strives to use her training  as a musician and dancer to influence her use of harmony/dissonance and rhythm in  her use of line and color.  Ms. Creasy apprenticed with Ann Aves Martin at Savage Mill Studios in Savage, MD., and has attended classes at the  Art League School.  Her work has been greatly influenced by the works of the Impressionists,  as well as colorists such as Rothko and Wolf Kahn, among others.

Originally from Southwestern Virginia in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Wynn’s love of nature and the contrasts of land and sky are illustrated in her use of line and brilliant colors. These are  combined to give a peaceful,  yet challenging landscape or abstract painting.  Whether realistic, impressionist,  or abstracted, many of her paintings are of remembered places of her childhood. All her paintings start with nature.  Some favorite subjects of her art are a back road,  the sunset's light illuminating the hills the distance, the unusual shape of trees in shadow…  all leading you to wonder what is around the corner or how the sky will change next.

The past year has seen a large recognition of Ms. Creasy 's talent as an artist.  Wynn recently placed BEST IN SHOW at Capitol Arts Network's "Travel Afar"  Exhibit at the Washington Photo Gallery  in Bethesda MD.  She was selected from over 700 entries for the Art League of Alexandria's "International Landscape Show".  She was selected as one of 5 international artists to be interviewed and paintings displayed on the online art Magazine www.creativehorizonsonline.com.  Wynn is a recent finalist in the online Juried American Juried Art Salon ( www.artjury.com)  She has had works commissioned by businesses and private collectors in the DC area.  She has works available  through A Show of Hands,  and Burke & Herbert Bank and  Trust in the Del Ray area of Alexandria, VA. She is represented by Gallery West,  Old Town Alexandria, VA;  Alvear Studio, Washington, DC;  and Creative Artisans Art Consultancy Silver Spring, MD.  Wynn has upcoming solo Exhibits scheduled at Burke & Herbant Bank and Trust through October, an exhibit of her abstracts curated by Myrtis Bedolla of Creative Artisans at the Golden Flame Restaurant in Silver Spring, MD.  Setpember and October 2006,  and a solo show  at Alvear Studio in February of 2007.  Wynn shows regularly at the Art LeagueDel Ray Artisans and Gallery West in Old Town Alexandria.
